I’m sure people remember my recent fashion rant about the upcoming outfit for Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Princess Sailor Moon. Shingetsu just posted a link in defense of Princess Sailor Moon, which shows that almost all costume details are firmly grounded in first-season manga costume designs. (They do not attempt to defend the petal-pink bow, nor should they. :P ) Even the pearl theme, while I still don’t like it, can be traced back to the manga stylings. Definitely worth a peek. ^^ I still stand by my rant, although now, apparently, some costume details I identified can actually be pinpointed in the first manga artbook. Oh well, I know when I’ve been beat!
Dude, I’ve been OWNED.

Actually, I forgot to add it to that page, but the pearls appear in such presidence also because they are Usagi’s birthstone. *yeah, is the author of that page* The costume may be gaudy, but they didn’t just pull it out of their butts.

Ahh, that makes sense. Hehe, I really enjoyed the page, I was thinking of anime examples and admittedly didn’t stop to peruse my artbooks. I really appreciated the examples you posted! :)

well .. of course the design is based on the manga design. alot of people seem to think that toei just pulls random designs from their ass.

Funny, because I don’t recall saying anything of the sort, I remember wondering where *Naoko* came up with the design. Thanks for painting me ignorant.
