When I read about U2’s 11/29 concert in Tokyo, I found myself fangirling (as usual) at the band’s personal touch:
” ‘Vertigo’ began not in Spanish but in Japanese tonight. But on an evening when Bono routinely slipped between English and Japanese, the enthusiasm of this Tokyo audience would have been clear in any country on the planet…. From the moment U2 took the stage, Bono carrying aloft the Japanese flag, the place was a ferment of screaming, dancing, and word perfect singing.”
And then at the second Tokyo show, the song Beautiful Day was modified in a lovely way:
‘See the world in red and white
See Sigh-tama in front of you tonight
See the shrines and the temples of Kyoto
From Nagasaki to Sapporo
See Japan in its Christmas hour
See us waiting for the Sakura to flower
See the bird with the leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colours came out….’
I was pleased to turn around my ReviewMe payout (from last month’s review) and renew my U2.com subscription, entitling me to yet another cd/dvd set. (I also used my 25% coupon and bought me a tshirt, thankyouverymuch.) I can’t pry my eyes off my newly-purchased The Saints are Coming music video — U2 doing punk reduces me internally to a screaming, hair-pulling adolescent. (Oh baby.) Looking forward to receiving the limited edition U2 18 Singles cd soon from Amazon….
Listening to concert music all day, as well as watching the first half-hour or so of the Vertigo ‘05 tour Wednesday night, makes me think of Blinding-Lights.net and wishing I could think of something to do with the main domain. Every time I think of doing some sort of U2 fansite, I remind myself that I have little enough time as it is, but that doesn’t stop the fangirl from rampaging all over my brain….
