Catching up, taking off

September 7th, 2007 · No Comments

My other sites and blogs have laid fallow for a over a month, and even this blog is starting to look a little unkempt. I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback about what I’ve shared lately — my feelings, my throes of personal growth — and the quality of the writing, but the growth lately has been of a painful, complicated sort. It’s not that I no longer wish to share; simply that I cannot, at this time. I think things are starting to even out a little. I’m feeling my way along.

Adding to the above, unfortunately, has been a work backlog of truly epic proportions. I wasn’t productive all summer, and then took almost three weeks off because it was vitally necessary that I do so. This left me doing six weeks’ work in the space of about three (fortunately, one of those jobs has shifted back due to server complications, so I’m not as crunched, though still crunched.) It’s been hard going back to work, harder adjusting to the feelings of stress and frustration, and I haven’t handled it well. I think I’m doing a bit better now.

It helps that later today, Johan and I are off for the weekend to a secluded retreat in the mountains, to celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary (tomorrow). We have a deluxe suite for the weekend, including dinner for two both nights, and a lot of hiking, communing with nature and quality-time-spending ahead of us. We haven’t had a vacation of any length in over a year, so I’m really looking forward to it, as is he. Things are definitely looking up, but the road is long.
