I’ve been wanting to post this for a day or so, as I really feel it’s true.
People have asked why the term ‘Never Surrender Dreams’ is important to me. Why I have it on my bench in front of my house, why I have it in pictures, use it in my writing so much. To me, it’s probably the most important thing we can do as a human being. We are taught at an early age to surrender our dreams, that certain things are done by people who are professionals. That you shouldn’t be singing in public or dancing in public, that you should surrender that which matters to you, because it’s not polite, it’s not achievable, that it’s not something you should be doing, people like you don’t do that sort of thing. We un-learn our passions, and to me as a writer, there’s nothing more important than to say: No, don’t give up your dreams! Don’t surrender that which makes you unique. That which gives you something worth living for. So to me, that comes out to three words: Never Surrender Dreams. And that’s the message I want to send out, not just to B5 fans, but to all folks everywhere, just to say that no matter what happens, hold on to what matters to you.
