Again with the something completely different

January 25th, 2008 · 3 Comments

After a lengthy discussion with Johan about my work habits (read: none) and procrastination habits last night, I tried some drastic (to me) measures today. Sadly (for my personal preferences), they worked out great, and as much as I miss my cheerful desktop full of folder icons, it will have to remain the proverbial blank slate for the next several weeks. I’m also, again for the immediate future, having Twitterific turned off except for specific times of day, in an effort to un-distract myself. I miss Twitter, I miss my icons, I hate having to “knuckle down”, but as I really have no choice, that’s the way life is for a while.

The backlog of work, she must be overcome. I’m tired of feeling like I can never do anything fun. :P

    While it might not work for you because your work is actually ON the computer, but I made Sunday “no computer day”. I don’t even turn it on. That way I have time to study Japanese, clean my apartment and go outside and all that jazz.

    Facebook has been my addiction lately.

    I guess I have the opposite problem. I need things to do to distract me away from the television & “my shows”.

    Of course, I have long believed in the adage:

    “If a cluttered desk is the sign of a cluttered mind, what does an empty desk say?”

    Brad: yeah, I try not to work on Sundays. It’s hard though, too, because most of my hobbies are on the computer as well. ^^;

    Steve: I haven’t had TV since… er. 2005? So cable is happily not a distraction. Super Mario Galaxy and Packrat, on the other hand….
